"Les Métamorphoses" is a composition by BASTIEN DAVID for the Métallophone and the ensemble "Les insectes".

The French composer and former Villa Concordia fellow (2022/23) developed this musical instrument. It consists of six wooden resonance boxes with 216 metal plates and is played simultaneously by six percussionists. Its 1/12-tone microtonal tuning gives it the ability to produce acoustically natural or even hypnotic sounds.

"Les Métamorphoses" (Création Allemande) is a gestural, immersive and sonic ballet, based on sensitivity and collective intelligence. Six musicians will transport the audience into a dazzling universe of tiny sounds through their virtuoso playing. The ensemble "Les insectes" was founded especially for the creation of a customised repertoire for the Métallophone and is in intensive exchange with the composer.

Before and after the concert, visitors will have the opportunity to view a photo documentation of the Métallophone. The exhibition shows the instrument, which also has great visual appeal due to its variable shape, in various spatial situations.
