What are the Villa Concordia’s office hours?
Office hours are Mon - Thurs 8:00 a.m. - 12 noon & 1:00 p.m. - 3:00 p.m Fri 8:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. During exhibitions the Villa Concordia's exhibition space is also open Sat & Sun from 11:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.
What is the International House of Artists Villa Concordia?
The International House of Artists Villa Concordia (Internationales Künstlerhaus Villa Concordia) is a cultural institution founded by the Free State of Bavaria to promote the arts and enrich the cultural life of Bamberg and the region. A variety of cultural events open to the general public take place throughout the year. More information on the villa itself and its history can be found under the heading "<link internal link in current>HOUSE". Each year twelve artists representing the fields of visual arts, literature and music receive a fellowship to live and work at the Villa Concordia for five or eleven months. Each group of visiting artists includes six members from one featured foreign country. More information on our current and former fellows can be found under "<link internal link in current>ARTISTS".
Is the International Artist House Villa Concordia a private or public institution?
The International Artist House Villa Concordia is a public institution funded and run under the auspices of the Bavarian State Ministry of Science and the Arts.
How can I support the International Artist House Villa Concordia?
By joining the <link internal-link internal link in current>Friends of the International Artist Villa Concordia! Founded in 1999, the association provides generous support through a wide range of activities and is happy to answer your questions concerning their goals, plans and ideas. New members are welcome. Can I tour the Villa Concordia and its gardens?
Yes, you are welcome whenever we are hosting an <link internal-link internal link in current>event or have an exhibition on display! You may also schedule your own group tours with our office via phone or email or join one of the official tours offered by the <link http: www.vhs-bamberg.de external-link-new-window external link in new>Volkshochshule Bamberg.
How can I contact the fellows?
The best opportunity to approach our fellows is in person at one of our many events. As many of our fellows have demanding schedules and a variety of artistic commitments elsewhere it can be difficult to get in touch with them. Feel free to send a message to our office and we'll be happy to make contact for you.
Where can I find more information about your events?

The local media (Fränkischer Tag, Fränkische Nacht, Kultur.Bamberg, etc.) lists our events. What are the entrance fees and do I have to make an appointment to tour the Villa Concordia or attend an event?
Almost all events presented at the Villa Concordia are free of charge and do not require an appointment. If you'd like a tour of the building please contact us at ++49 951 955010 to schedule an appointment. We look forward to your visit!
How often do events take place at Villa Concordia?
Each year the events calendar varies, depending on the current fellows and their projects. Generally the Villa Concordia presents numerous readings, concerts, vernissages and other activities every month. For more information please see <link internal-link internal link in current>EVENTS.
Does the International House of Artists Villa Concordia offer internships?
Yes, we offer both three-month internships for students (pre-job qualification apprenticeship) and one-year traineeships for graduates (Bachelor: minimal requirement). Both cover all facets of cultural management (event planning, organization, PR and marketing, artist liaison, office work, etc.). Internships and traineeships are not advertised. Is it possible to present my own cultural event at the International House of Artists Villa Concordia?
Generally no, as our program planning is focused on presenting our fellowship holders. However, we are open to partnerships or to including events that offer a form of cooperation. For consideration please send us your written proposal.
Can I rent individual rooms or the entire Villa Concordia?
Unfortunately, no. The Villa Concordia is not a "location" available for hire for public or private events. All events presented at the Villa are directly connected to current or former fellowship holders.
Can I apply for a fellowship?
Unfortunately, no. Artists are admitted to the International House of Artists Villa Concordia by invitation only. An independent <link internal link in current>board of trustees nominated by the Bavarian State Ministry of Science and the Arts is charged with electing fellows. Fellowships are offered to individuals who have already demonstrated exceptionally successful artistic work and are not provided as support for emerging artists.
