Uğurcan Öztekin, born in 1990, is an Istanbul-based composer of orchestral, chamber and vocal music. His works have received international recognition, including first prize at the Calefax Composers Competition 2019 and awards at competitions such as the Festival Mixtur, the Donaueschinger Musiktage, the “Pre-Art” Composition Competition, the Atlas Ensemble Composition Competition and the Turkish Ministry of Culture Choir Competition.
Öztekin's music has been performed in 14 countries in Europe and North America, at festivals such as the Donaueschinger Musiktage, the Festival Mixtur, the Barcelona Modern Festival, Turbulences Sonores, ME_MMIX18, Baroquestock and Unicum. His compositions have been interpreted by renowned ensembles such as Airborne Extended, Trio Amos, Atlas Ensemble, Barcelona Modern, Ensemble Cairn, Calefax Reed Quintet, Hezarfen Ensemble, Molot Ensemble and Semplice Quartet.
Uğurcan Öztekin was awarded the residency fellowship at the Künstlerhaus Bamberg by Bavarian State Minister Markus Blume at the suggestion of Villa Concordia Music fellowship Board members Marcus Rudolf Axt, Director of the Bamberg Symphony Orchestra, Imke List, Ernst von Siemens Music Foundation and Prof. Rainer Kotzian, President of the Nuremberg University of Music. He will work in Bamberg from mid-October to mid-March 2026.
