Zeynep Gedizlioglu, born in 1977 in Izmir, Turkey, studied composition with Cengiz Tanc in Istanbul, Theo Brandmüller in Saarbrücken, Ivan Fedele in Strasbourg and with Wolfgang Rihm in Karlsruhe, as well as music theory with Michael Reudenbach. She worked at the IRCAM in Paris. Her music has been performed at international festivals and has been broadcast live on the radio. Her works have been released on CDs, of which her second portrait CD ‘Verbinden und Abwenden’ was nominated for the German Record Critics' Award in 2020. Among numerous prizes, Zeynep Gedizlioglu received the GEMA German Music Authors' Prize in the ‘Composition for Chamber Music’ category in 2022. Many of her works have been premiered by the Arditti Quartet, Ensemble Modern or the SWR Symphony Orchestra. She has given master classes in composition at the Karlsruhe University of Music, Bilkent University in Ankara and the Grieg Academy in Bergen/Norway. She has been a jury member for the Composition Prize of the State Capital Stuttgart since 2025. She lives as a freelance composer in Berlin.

Zeynep Gedizlioğlu was awarded the residency fellowship at the Künstlerhaus Bamberg by Bavarian State Minister Markus Blume at the suggestion of Villa Concordia Music Fellowship Board members Marcus Rudolf Axt, Director of the Bamberg Symphony Orchestra, Imke List, Ernst von Siemens Music Foundation and Prof. Rainer Kotzian, President of the Nuremberg University of Music. The composer will work in Bamberg from mid-October to mid-March 2026.
