Biography Ed Bennett: villa-concordia.de/artists

The pianist and composer Xenia Pestova Bennett has been described as a "powerhouse of contemporary keyboard repertoire" (Tempo). She has gained an international reputation as a leading exponent of uncompromising music. Her work encompasses a wide range of soundscapes, styles and genres, from classical to contemporary art music, free improvisation, experimental electronic music and avant-pop. She has performed in over 20 countries and explores the boundaries of classical music with electronics, toy pianos, synthesizers and the magical and mysterious Magnetic Resonator Piano.

Michaela Riener (mezzo-soprano) and Eva Tebbe (harp) have been working together as the duo Journeyers since 2008. This year they performed the world premiere of the music theatre performance "The Open Road" by award-winning composer Kate Moore, with poems by Walt Whitman, directed by Matthias Mooij. "The Open Road" contains the essence of what they stand for as a duo: It asks us to let go of all fears and worries, to dare to distance ourselves from money and social structures, to tread unknown artistic paths as a symbol of life's journey: a process of discovering "divine things well enveloped, more beautiful than words can tell". On this journey, the two JOURNEYERS, as modern troubadours, encounter the most beautiful contemporary repertoire, enter into collaborations with composers and also return to ancient, timeless music. The duo is named after one of the poems from "The Open Road" by Walt Whitman.
