Cem Sonel, born in Ankara in 1985, is - by his own admission - a multidisciplinary artist, guerrilla street hacker and semi-digital mediator who creates his work in urban space. In 2014, he began a master's degree in sculpture and completed his studies at the Faculty of Graphic Design at Hacettepe University. In 2009, he co-founded the KÜF project, which became known for its guerrilla street art interventions. After moving to İzmir in 2017, he collaborated with the Darağaç Collective. His work has been shown at Berlin Art Week, Contemporary Istanbul, Sónar Festival, Art Cologne and SPARK Vienna. He continues to explore the intersection of street art and new media.

Cem Sonel was awarded the residency fellowship at the Künstlerhaus Bamberg by Bavarian State Minister Markus Blume at the suggestion of Villa Concordia art fellowship board members Walter Storms, gallery owner, and Katharina Vossenkuhl, Director of the Götz Collection. He will work in Bamberg from mid-April 2025 to mid-March 2026.
