Tanya Maljarchuk, born in 1983 in Ivano-Frankivsk/Ukraine, studied philology at the University of Ivano-Frankivsk and worked as a journalist in Kiev after graduating. In German, she most recently published the novel "Blue Whale of Memory," 2019 and the essay collection "Gleich geht die Geschichte weiter, wir ausatmen nur," 2022 (both Kiepenheuer & Witsch).
In 2018, Tanja Maljartschuk received the Ingeborg Bachmann Prize, 2022 the Usedom Literature Prize. She regularly writes columns and lives as an independent author in Vienna.
