Kathrin A. Denner, born in 1986, studied trumpet, music theory and composition with Theo Brandmüller, Wolfgang Rihm and Johannes Schöllhorn. Since 2024, she has been studying for a doctorate at the Collège Doctoral Européen d'Interprétation et de Création Musicales GLAREAN on time in contemporary music and dance. Her compositions arise from a playful, almost childlike curiosity in dealing with musical material. The focus is on exploring its characteristics, its behavior and its reactions to change. She is a member of the board and the management team of the German Composers' Association's Section for Electronic Music. She is a lecturer at the University of Music in Trossingen. Her catalog of works includes solo works, chamber music, ensemble pieces, works for choir and orchestra, as well as computer music.

Kathrin A. Denner was awarded the residency fellowship at the Künstlerhaus Bamberg by Bavarian State Minister Markus Blume at the suggestion of Villa Concordia Music Fellowship Board members Marcus Rudolf Axt, Director of the Bamberg Symphony Orchestra, Imke List, Ernst von Siemens Music Foundation and Prof. Rainer Kotzian, President of the Nuremberg University of Music. The composer will work in Bamberg from mid-April to mid-March 2026.
