Composer Bastien David will be resident artist of the Ensemble 2E2M during the season 2022-23, which will run parallel to his stay at Internationales Künstlerhaus Villa Concordia. David is inventor of a new microtonal percussion instrument: The Metallophone (www.lesinsectes.fr). He is supported by the Banque Populaire foundation and by the Académie des Beaux-Arts for this project. David was a resident at the Villa Medicis. His music is published by Editions Lemoine and is performed internationally by soloists, ensembles and prestigious orchestras.

L'Ombre d'un doute, concerto for two cellos and string orchestra, was premiered by Marie Ythier, Eric-Maria Couturier and Orchestra during the Printemps des Arts Festival in Monaco 2022. David will then compose a work for the opening of the Festival Présences 2023 dedicated to the Ensemble Intercontemporain, the Maîtrise de RadioFrance, the insects and the metallophone.

David studied with Bernard Cavanna, José Manuel López López and Gérard Pesson at the CNSMDP. From April 2022 to March 2023 he is awarded the Villa Concordia Fellowship of the Free State of Bavaria.
