Samuel Laurence Cunnane, born in 1989 and raised in the west of Ireland, completed his studies in Photography in 2011, whereupon he moved to New York to work in the studio of renowned documentarian Albert Maysles. Since then Cunnane has moved continually and photographed all the while, be it in the Balkans, Iran, Russia, Japan or his home in Kerry.
Samuel Laurence Cunnane has been the subject of exhibitions at Kerlin Gallery (2020, 2015); OCT Boxes Museum of Art, Shunde, China (2018), Öktem&Aykut, Istanbul (2021, 2017); Douglas Hyde Gallery, Dublin (2016) and THEODORE: Art, New York (2015). Recent group exhibitions and projects include The Glucksman Gallery, Cork (2023), Lismore Arts Castle, (2023) National Gallery of Ireland, Dublin (2019) and Highlanes Gallery, Drogheda (2018). He will live at the Künstlerhaus for 11 months.
