Sasha J. Blondeau, born in 1986, are a French composer of contemporary mixed, instrumental and electroacoustic music. They first studied piano and saxophone, then analysis, writing and composition, and have a PhD in musical composition in the Ircam-Sorbonne Université-CNRS program (2017). Blondeau were awarded the CNSMD Lyon Prize by the Francis and Mica Salabert Foundation in 2012 and the Sacem Claude Arrieu Prize in 2018. From 2013 to 2015 and from 2019 to 2020, they were residents of the Cité Internationale des Arts Paris and 2018/19 of the Villa Médicis, Académie de France à Rome.

Sasha J. Blondeau are interested in the interplay of instrumental and “electroacoustic” writing and also composes plays. Future projects include a large piece for the dancer and singer François Chaignaud, for the Orchestre de Paris, Ircam at the Philharmonie de Paris and for a text by Hélène Giannecchini (2023). In 2022, the three artists will be visiting Royaumont and the Villa Albertine in San Francisco until February.
From 2022 to 2023, Sasha J. Blondeau are awarded the Villa Concordia Fellowship of the Free State of Bavaria.
